Most players will probably poke around a little bit then next time they are in the area, but I was obsessed. The game will highlight a decent-sized space on the map - probably about one square mile. Next time he will dig deeper and use crushed gravel to put an extra layer on the top of the soil, before placing the carpet over it and assembling the pool. Because of our ground is sloped, he had to dig quite a bit on one side but the other side was still a bit soft. If Karel would have done this again, he would try to make the base (ground soil) a bit more sturdy. It works better for swimming when the cord is tight and elevated. In learning from others, we suggest to attach the tether cords above the pool - not at the same level of the pool (the pool frame). We ran it in the first 24 hrs after setting up the pool (and adding chemicals to the pool. ![]() We run the filter for a few hours during the day when we swim. Our pool is close to our house and the length of the cord from the pump to the eletrical socket is long enough for us to plug in for daily filtering. We are lucky to have safe access to a lake for swimming (~45 minutes away) so we are swimming open water once a week (we also do a workout in the open water instead of continuous swimming). We use a snorkel when we swim as it can get choppy and this helps with body alignment and to keep us from getting dizzy from the waves that are created from swimming in place. We used the first swim to just get comfortable to swimming with the tether (it's not like normal pool swimming) and now we are completing actual swim "workouts" that we have created for swimming with the tether. I have a feeling once the water warms up over 70 degrees, we will include more frequent short swims. The first swim I used my booties as the water was really cold from just filling it up. The water is still a little chilly (~64 degrees) so we are wearing a wetsuit when we swim. Normally we would swim (in a real pool) 5-6 times per week with our triathlon training. We've only had the pool for a week and we've completed three ~45-60 min swim workouts in the pool in the past seven days. We have been covering the pool every evening to prevent debris (leaves) from getting into the pool. We still need to purchase a net for cleaning and a few more things to control and adjust the pH level. We are still learning but we purchased bromine tabs to put into a floating dispenser w/ thermometer and a testing kit. How long did it take to fill the pool with water?Ībout two days (not filling overnight). How long did it take to assemble the pool?Īccording to Karel, the assembly itself was pretty quick. He also added a few flat pieces of wood under the pool legs to help spread the weight load so it wouldn't dig into the softer ground (the ground is pretty sturdy but soft in terms of the heavy pool). Lastly, he purchased an outdoor green "carpet" to use as a smooth/sturdy base on top of the soil. He also purchased and used a long 2 x 4 piece of wood to put a level on to help with leveling the ground. He purchased some gardening/digging tools for this process. He removed the sod and dug to create a smooth base level for the pool. ![]() Because we wanted the pool on the side of our house where the yard slightly slopes down, Karel has to even the surface of the ground. Karel did everything from getting the ground ready to assembling the pool. What steps were needed before assembling the pool? How long did it take to receive the pool after ordered? ![]() Because we plan to use this pool for more than one season, I choose a steel frame for durability. The depth of 42" was perfect - not too deep but certainly not too shallow. I wanted a rectangle pool (to feel more like a swimming pool and using less water than circular) and one that was big but not massive. I selected this pool based on internet pool reviews. ![]() ![]() Or maybe it’s more like the shaggy dog super-movies that proliferated in the 1990s, back when American movie studios didn’t know how to consistently lure general audiences with super-stories. The Other One” resembles the sort of movie that you used to find in the fifth or sixth auditorium of your local second-run movie theater at the dead center of a triple-digit summer. ![]() This movie is 137 minutes long and definitely feels like it. The Other One” feels like a soapier alternative to those series, right down to its convoluted backstories and slow-fast-slow pace. Even Harvey’s character points out (repeatedly) that Jo-hyeon curses a lot, though that isn’t so strange given how many recent American super-shows have leaned into gore and four-letter words to establish their adolescent bonafides. The Other One” still don’t know how to synthesize their overstuffed grab bag of pulpy tropes and stock characters. Some blood-soaked and perhaps overly busy action scenes suggest that the makers of “The Witch: Part 2. But all sub-plots come back to Cynthia, a blessedly uncomplicated character with no past and a striking resemblance to Ja-yoon. There’s also a decent-sized B-story involving Kyung-hee and Dae-gil, who are already embroiled in a western-style plot to protect their dead dad’s land from murderous uncle Yong-du ( Jin Goo). The Other One” concerns the confluence of overlapping minders and captors that surround Cynthia. ![]() The Subversion.” But much of “The Witch: Part 2. It certainly helps to know that the wheelchair-bound Doctor Baek (Jo Min-su) has a cordial rivalry with Jang ( Lee Jong-suk), and that they’re both still looking for Ja-yoon after the events of “The Witch: Part 1. The good news for the idly curious viewer is: you don’t need to keep a detailed scorecard of these connections. No, seriously, everybody in this movie is somebody’s ex-partner, sibling, or potential future partner. But the most important thing to know here is: everybody wants to either kidnap or ally with Cynthia, and they’re all somehow related to each other. There’s also a brother-sister pair of Shanghainese killers that are unleashed on Cynthia by a different shadowy organization. Still, it’s refreshing to see flirtation and even buddy comedy chemistry as the foundation for many of this movie’s criss-crossing relationships, including the better-developed of the two pairs of mercenaries that chase after Cynthia, the whiskey-and-swears tomboy Jo-hyeon (Seo Eun-soo) and her South African beardo partner ( Justin John Harvey). It’s mostly only potential since “Part 2” feels like an overly elaborate bridge between “Part 1” and an inevitable “Part 3.” Even Cynthia, a clone who was originally named ADP (Ark 1 Datum Point), finds a little potential for romance after she escapes the Ark lab facility and stumbles into Kyung-hee ( Park Eun-bin) and her oafish brother Dae-gil (Sung Yoo-bin). There’s a lot of welcome teenage and teenage-friendly melodrama here and it’s not always what you might expect. The Other One” satisfying is that it’s a sequel and therefore part of a prefabricated narrative and genre. The Other One” may be lumpier and more unfocused than its predecessor, but it doesn't rehash what came before it.Ī good part of what makes “The Witch: Part 2. I mean, yes, there are several female leads, but more importantly, those characters get to do more than just act out the usual pseudo-empowering revanchist fantasies that pass for bubblegum feminism. ![]() That’s all part of these genre hybrids’ appeal: like some of the better American superhero movies and TV shows, “The Witch: Part 1” and its sequel feel like they’re actually trying to appeal to a target audience of teenage boys and girls.
